Abstultus provides free integrated Linux virtual machines for educators and students. Available operating systems include Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial Xerus) in both server and desktop editions. More Linux variants are constantly being added.
Abstultus’ Linux machines come loaded with a full LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) stack, shell access and multiple programing languages like C, Java, Python and Ruby along with many other applications. Internet access from within the Linux machine is free and unlimited. Full root access is available along with, higher Internet speeds and DNS entries pointing to the machine. Upgrades to RAM, CPU and drive space are available. These machines are meant to support all classes requiring a Linux computer; from introductory computer classes to advanced classes.
This dashboard application allows you to launch and manage integrated Linux virtual machines from within an LMS. Before installing this application you must claim your free Linux virtual machine by creating an account on https://abstultus.com/requestfreelinux Each student in your class that you would like to have a free integrated Abstultus.com Linux virtual machine will also need to create an Abstultus Account.
1.) Request an Abstultus Free Linux Virtual Machine at: https://abstultus.com/requestfreelinux
A consumer key and private key along with virtual machine information will be emailed to you.
2.) Create a free Abstultus account (no credit card required) at: https://abstultus.com
3.) Login to the Abstultus Web Control Panel and provision a Free Linux Virtual Machine in your account.
4.) Install this app in the LMS of your choice. Your virtual machines will be accessible from the LMS after you authorize/allow the LMS to access your virtual machines via an automated email confirmation.
