We strongly believe that teachers and students deserve a truly simple and flexible tool for managing their content and courseware.
As educators ourselves, we’ve experienced first hand the frustration and challenge of working with digital content within technology frameworks that are far from user-friendly, and that force us to duplicate tasks within various learning management systems (LMSs).
We’ve wanted to adapt or remix curricula for various contexts, and collaborate with colleagues or peers on courseware—all within a single, intuitive interface.
We’ve hoped technology would deliver time-saving solutions to our evolving teaching needs and help us more effectively engage students.
We’ve seen that the majority of our students can’t afford textbooks, while acknowledging that open textbooks are still missing features that are important to students and instructors.
At Open Assembly, we’ve created an efficient, elegant solution to these problems: a platform for managing resources within any LTI-certified LMS. No more having to duplicate tasks when changing contexts. This Beta release of Open Assembly is focused primarily on educators working in multiple contexts. We also have many researchers and students using Open Assembly, mainly for project development and management.
Open Assembly is a web application - just sign up and go!
If a course is already created on the Open Assembly platform, Learning Tools Interoperability for a course can be set up via the “Use Course as LTI Tool” button under the “Course Info” tab, in the Course View. This will supply a consumer key and secret which can be integrated into LTI Tool Consumers.
